VEC announced the lowest unemployment claims since 1969

An email from the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) announced that the number of initial unemployment insurance weekly claims remains at historic lows.

In fact the claims nationwide fell to the lowest level since September of 1969 for the filing week ending March 19.

The most recent week continued weeks claimed were under 7,000 which is 88 percent lower than the same week last year.

In Virginia for the filing week ending Mar. 19 the seasonal unadjusted claims was 1,546 that is a 308 claimnates decrease from the previous week.
