VEC introduces new website to help with insurance fraud

extended benefits program

The Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) and U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) introduce a new website.

The website helps those whose identities have been stolen and used fraudulently to file for unemployment.

This is a nationwide issue that can be addressed at dol.gov/fraud and in Spanish at dol.gov/fraud/es.

Anyone suspecting their identity has been stolen should go to vec.virginia.gov/unemployed/fraud.

According to DOL many learn of fraud with unexpected mail such as payment or a 1099 G tax form with errors or for benefits they didn’t get.
