VH Hospitals receive “A”s in safety

Valley Health (VH) reports by email that Winchester Medical Center (WMC) and Warren Memorial Hospital (WMH) have
earned “A”s in Hospital Safety.

The independent national watchdog group Leapfrog

recognized the two hospitals for achievements in protecting the patients from
harm.

Twice a year the Leapfrog group assigns grades “A” through “F” to nearly 3,000
hospitals across the country based on 30 evidence-based patient safety
performance measures.

Measures that include errors, injuries, accidents and
infections as well the systems in place to prevent harm.

This is the sixth
consecutive “A” grade for WMC which makes the hospital the highest
graded facility in Northern Shenandoah Valley Eastern Panhandle region.

Nationwide only 29 percent of the hospitals earned an “A “in the fall of 2022.

In
Virginia 37 hospitals received an “A” this past fall.
