Virginia Authorities release statements on Tyre Nichols’ death

Virginia Authorities release statements on the death of Tyre Nichols at the hands of Memphis police officers.

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin expressed his grief and sorrow for Nichols family and asked that those exercising their first amendment rights do so peacefully.

He ensured Virginians of their first amendment rights at the same time stated that Virginia will  prioritize and protect the safety of the Commonwealth and all it’s citizens.

Asking Virginians to strive to better our communities and treat one another with love and respect.

Virginia State Police Colonel Gary Settle called the actions of the officers involved inexcusable and incomprehensible.

Settle went on to say that he knows the thread of trust in law enforcement has been tested.

The Colonel added that his agency will serve Virginians with compassion and excellence.

Settle recommitted his agency to a higher standard with an unwavering commitment to sanctity of an individual’s human and civil rights.

Fredrick County Sheriff Lenny Millholland recommitted his agency’s due regard and compassion towards those they are sworn to protect and serve.
