Virginia High School League holds off on deciding status of fall sports season
The Virginia High School League Executive Committee met in special session yesterday for the purpose of discussing the fiscal year 2021 budget and fall sports.
Though the budget passed, committee members decided they could not make a decision about the fall athletic season at this time because of the uncertainty surrounding the phased reopening of the state.
The committee did vote to hold additional meetings in July and August as more information becomes known.
Virginia is set to move into Phase Three of Gov. Northam’s “Forward Virginia” plan on July 1. Even in Phase Three, social distancing is required for sports.
