Virginia State Police (VSP) are reminding motorist that rules of the road have not changed.

VSP blames the reduction in driving last year that may have led to our being less attentive and rusty behind the wheel this year as 14 traffic deaths occurred over the Memorial Day weekend.

Virginia Troopers issued over 5,000 speeding and 1,800 reckless driving citations.

They arrested 79 impaired drivers with 740 individuals cited for seat belt violations with almost 300 felony arrests made.

VSP assisted over 2,000 disabled motorists.

This was significantly higher than anything reported last year.
