VSP investigate crash involving a pedestrian in Shenandoah County

The Virginia State Police (VSP) report by email that they continue to investigate a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in Shenandoah County.

June 6 at approximately 10:30 a.m. a pedestrian walking north with a bicycle on Route 11 was struck from behind by a northbound 2013 Hyundai Elantra north of Chapman’s Landing.

Ramon L. Santiago Rivera of Edinburg died at the scene of the incident, he was 74 years of age.

Deborah A. McCormick of Fort Valley was driving the Hyundai and was uninjured in the crash.

The 70-year-old McCormack has been charged with reckless driving.
