W.V.S.P open investigation after body found near Martinsburg

West Virginia State Police (W.V.S.P) opened an investigation October 24 after the report of a missing person.

Veronica Ruth Gladden’s family had not seen her since October 22 and was reported missing to local authorities.

According to the Spirit of Jefferson on October 25 a fisherman found Gladden’s wallet under a bridge near Scrabble Road near Martinsburg.

Local authorities were notified and during the search clothing and other personal items of Gladden’s were found.

October 29 a body was found and reported to the Charles Town Detachment of West Virginia State Police.

The body was positively identified as Gladden with the murder investigation launched on November 1.
