Wanted felon flees attempted arrest

Frederick County Sheriff’s Office reports the search for a wanted felon.

Frederick County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to arrest Sara Michell Cox on Sat. Apr. 30 at the Route 50 Walmart parking lot.

Cox was able to escape by striking the Deputy with her vehicle in an attempt to flee.

A pursuit began at speeds that reached over 100 miles per hour on Northwestern Pike.

Cox’s driving became more erratic and pursuit was terminated for public safety.

Cox was driving a white 2021 or 22 Ford Mustang that is believed to be a rental.

The vehicle has a black soft top with an unknown vehicle registration.

Cox, who is homeless has been known to stay with friends in the Inwood, Capon Bridge, Martinsburg and Winchester areas.

She is currently wanted on charges of felony assault on a law enforcement officer, felony eluding, felony failure to appear on grand larceny charges.

Cox is also wanted for shoplifting, obtaining money by false pretenses and maybe facing other charges.

Anyone with any information on her whereabouts is asked to contact the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.
