
Warren County Administrator February 2019 Update

Janet Michael, host of The Valley Today recently had a conversation with Doug Stanley, Warren County Administrator, to get an update on a few of the projects happening in Warren County. Doug gave us an overview of the first draft findings for the County’s updated vision; and, told us about some options for future development in the 522 corridor. In addition, we discussed the topics below.
Reassessments
Wingate Appraisal completed the 2019 General Reassessment in December. Owners were notified of the result of their appeal over the last several weeks of December. In total, 480 property owner appeals were heard by the Board of Assessors. The Board of Equalization will hear appeals from March 1 – April 30, 2019.
Rivermont Fire Station
Revisions to the site plan have been completed and the project is currently being advertised. Bids are due on February 21, 2019.
FY19-20 Budget
The Board met with department heads and Constitutional Officers on their respective budgets. The Board will hold its next work session on February 28, 2019 at 7pm with outside agencies.
Tourism Committee
The Joint Tourism Committee met on February 13, 2019 and discussed the objectives of its three subcommittees involving wayfinding signage, marketing/branding, and a local ambassador program. The contracts have been finalized with Frazier Associates for the wayfinding signage project; that project is expected to kick-off in March 2019. The committee also discussed several other projects to make priorities in the coming year; including a local business ambassador program to train employees on what the community offers for tourism; marketing tips for local tourism businesses; and a tourism grant program. The Committee will meet again on April 10, 2019.
