Warren County Grand Jury indict two in Ennis death

A Warren County grand jury has handed down two felony indictments related to the April 2022 death of 77-year-old Ralph Ennis of Gainesville Virginia.

On April 2 a Warren County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop Ennis for reported erratic driving and going 8 miles over the speed limit.

Ennis finally stopped at the 7 eleven at Crooked Run Plaza on Winchester Road.

According to an email from Virginia State Police Information Officer Sergeant Brent Coffey during the traffic stop Ennis was allegedly assaulted by Deputies Zachary A. Fadely and Tyler S. Poe.

Video footage from an ABC News affiliate and the Front Royal Police Officer on the scene shows Ennis was pushed by two Deputies.

Ennis died 13 days after the incident.

The 30-year-old Fadley of Shenandoah County has been indicted on one felony count of malicious wounding and 25-year-old Poe has been indicted on one felony count of unlawful wounding.

The Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Culpeper Field Office is investigating the case.

Virginia State Police Authorities have been in contact with attorneys of both Fadley and Poe.

Both men are expected to turn themselves in according to VSP Coffey.
