Warren County offers cooling stations during extreme heat

The Warren County Office of Emergency Management announced that there will be cooling stations available during the extreme heat.

Excessive heat warnings are posted throughout the region with precautionary protective measures also available.

Temperatures are expected to feel as hot as 103 to 108 degrees through Saturday.

Some of the recently posted cooling stations include Samuel’s Public Library on Criser Road available Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Community Center on Villa Avenue will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

The Public Safety Building on Skyline Vista Drive is available Thursday and Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Senior Center on Commonwealth Avenue is available for those 60 and over Thursday and Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Splash pad is available on East 8 Street Thursday through Sunday noon to 6 p.m.

The Splash pad is not available during the thunderstorms that are expected each afternoon.

Some of the most venerable people and the ones to watch closely are the elderly, the very young and pets.

Where these cooling stations will offer some food and water and in some cases cots these are not shelters.

These cooling stations are just to be used as a place to get out of the heat temporarily and take advantage of some air conditioning and water to prevent heat related illness.
