Warren County Public Schools makes switch to Aetna insurance
11 December 2020 Front Royal/Warren County News
In a special meeting Wednesday, the Warren County School Board unanimously approved a health insurance provider switch from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield to Aetna for Warren County Public School employees.
The school district requested proposals from a variety of insurance carriers when Valley Health and Anthem were still working to reach a contract agreement.
Though Valley Health and Anthem came to an agreement, the school board found that the coverage with Aetna would save the district a little over $580,000 over the next eight months.
Superintendent Chris Ballenger said during the meeting that the change comes with no premium increases for employees. He said some employees may even see a small reduction in their premium.
The coverage also provides increased benefits for vision and the employee assistance program.
The official switch to Aetna becomes effective Feb. 1, 2021.
