Warren EDA Files Suit Against Former Director, Sheriff

On Tuesday (3/27/2019), the Front Royal-Warren County Economic Development Authority filed a civil case against former EDA Executive Director Jennifer McDonald, Warren County Sheriff Daniel McEathron, and seven other defendants.

The suit alleges that as EDA Director, McDonald embezzled millions by misappropriating the authority’s money. The civil suit includes several companies that were related to this embezzlement, including ITFederal and DaBoyz LLC, which was owned by both McDonald and Sheriff McEathron. In a release after the filling, the EDA said that it “worked diligently with outside financial and legal consultants” to examine the extent of the damage, which the filing states is more than $17 million in misappropriated funds. The EDA says its board was “misled and unaware of the extent and magnitude of this scheme.” It is now working with the Warren County Board of Supervisors to make the County the fiscal agent for the EDA, effective July 1st.

Sheriff McEathron reacted to the filing this morning with a brief statement, in which he said “I am in shock of the allegations and want the public to know I have done nothing illegal, either personally or professionally.”
