Warren School Board Finalizes Budget, 2% Teacher Raises

4 May 2018 News

The Warren County School Board has officially finalized its operating budget for the 2019 fiscal year.

The final decision came during a school board meeting Wednesday, where board members agreed to the $56 million dollar budget. The group faced a unique challenge when the Warren County Board of Supervisors gave them $634,000 less than they had asked for; it was uncertain at that point whether or not they would be able to budget in the 2% salary raise for teachers they had planned on. However, the School Board was able to include just over $300,000 of its surplus to its current operating budget, allowing for a 2% pay increase for educators for the entire upcoming school year despite constrictions. Superintendent Greg Drescher has been quoted as saying that the raises are important to retain teachers and keep the county a competitive option for educators seeking employment.
