Warren Supervisors Chairman Won’t Run for Reelection

6 June 2019 Front Royal/Warren County News

Warren County Board of Supervisors Chairman Dan Murray has announced that he will not run for reelection next year.

Murray informed the public of his decision at Tuesday’s (6/4/2019) Board of Supervisors meeting. In a previous April meeting, the North River District Representative had addressed calls for him to resign in the wake of the over $17 million civil suit filing by the Economic Development Authority against its former director, Jennifer McDonald, and eight other defendants. He said then that people were acting behind his back to trying to “subvert me, knock me down, and bring someone in as an independent.”

Holding back tears at Tuesday’s meeting, Murray told the crowd that he made the decision not to run because of heart issues, and that he “never walked away from a fight” in his life, but that he had been “carried away from some.” His term ends on December 31, 2019.
