Two Front Royal Police Department (FRPD) Officers and Warren County Fire and Rescue (WCFR) members responded to a house fire around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The two Front Royal Police Officers have been saluted and commended in a video found here.

The Officers were the first on the scene and found two people inside the burning structure.

Thanks to the Officers quick action and risking their own safety they were able to save the residents inside the home.

Unable to enter through any doors Officer Martin quickly cut a window screen and entered through the window.

Once inside Martin found two non ambulatory residents.

Overcome with smoke Martin had to leave the home through the same window she entered.

In the meantime Sergeant Suess had arrived on the scene and was able to literally break down and remove a door to enter.

The two Officers reentered the home and pulled the two occupants out of the house to safety.

Once safe outside the couple was treated for smoke inhalation and transported to the hospital to be checked.

Two firefighters were also injured battling the blaze.

One firefighter was treated at the scene while the other was taken to the hospital and later released.

The home in the 18 Street area of Front Royal was deemed a total loss and uninhabitable.
