WCSO and FRPD assist in capture of dangerous suspect
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office and Front Royal Police Department assisted in a joint operation to capture a dangerous individual who was on the run after a drive-by shooting.
At 1 am on December 9th, the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Warren County Sheriff’s Office requesting a coordinated high-risk vehicle stop linked to an investigation of a drive-by shooting in Culpeper.
An on-duty Rappahannock County deputy spotted the suspected vehicle traveling near Routes 522 and 211 towards Warren County.
At request of the WCSO, Front Royal Police set up spike strips at the town line in case the suspect did not stop.
The suspect was pulled over without incident before reaching town and identified as Demetre Dominique Skinner of Manassas.
No other suspects were involved in the crime and the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office believes the incident was specific to the Culpeper area, involving only the suspect and victim.
He was charged with shooting from a vehicle so as to endanger persons, shooting at a vehicle, aggravated malicious wounding, and use or display of a firearm during a felony.
The victim was airlifted to UVA Charlottesville in critical condition.
