Bill Wiley beat Richard Traczyk in Saturday’s firehouse primary to secure the Republican nomination to run for the 29th District House of Delegates seat.
Wiley received 969 votes to Traczyk’s 301 in the primary, which was held at the Millwood Station Banquet Hall in Winchester. The primary was organized by the 29th House District Legislative District Republican Committee.
Wiley will face Democratic nominee Irina Khanin in a Nov. 3 special election that will determine who will fill the remainder of Republican Chris Collins’ term. Collins resigned from the 29th District seat June 28 when he was appointed a General District Court Judge for the 26th Judicial District.
Irina Khanin ran against Chris Collins for the 29th District seat in November 2019, but lost. She received only 35.6% of the votes and Collins received 64.4%
