Winchester Armed Robbery Leads to Drug Arrest

15 June 2018 News

An armed robbery that led to a drug arrest took place in Winchester on Wednesday.

On the 700 block of National Avenue at approximately 11:13 p.m., three black males wearing red sweatshirts, black pants, and black bandanas to cover their faces came from Maple Drive as they approached the victim. One pulled a semiautomatic handgun from the front waistline of his pants and demanded money.

A K-9 track led officers from the scene of the armed robbery to the 1000 block of Franklin Street, where they smelled marijuana. After further investigation, officers discovered a replica firearm, nearly $7,000 in cash, marijuana, cocaine, and paraphernalia consistent with distribution.

The resident of the home, 42 year-old Tyriek Lamone Loftin of Winchester, was arrested and charged with marijuana distribution. Any possible connection between these incidents remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Winchester Police Department at 540-662-4131 or the anonymous tip line at 540-665-TIPS.
