Winchester Community Thanksgiving Dinner a Success

26 November 2017 News

In Winchester, volunteers at the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner at First Presbyterian Church served 1,330 people this holiday season. About $3,000 was spent on food, with money donated from businesses and individuals. That doesn’t include the 150 turkeys, which are bought and cooked by parishioners and kept overnight in a refrigerated food truck outside the church.

Volunteers began carving the turkeys at 7 AM, and as the morning progressed the Market Street United Methodist Church and the Braddock Street United Methodist Church delivered the green beans and mashed potatoes. Not only was there dinner service inside the church, but 830 meals were also delivered to people in Winchester, as well as Clarke and Frederick counties.
