Winchester, Front Royal Improvements Start This Week

8 July 2019 Front Royal/Warren County Winchester News

Improvements planned in both Winchester and Front Royal for this week are expected to cause traffic delays.

Winchester and Washington Gas have planned improvements to North Cameron Street that will have an impact on businesses and residents. The goal of the work is to alleviate the flooding issues that occur regularly on North Cameron between Piccadilly and Clark Streets. The first phase of the city’s project will replace the existing stormwater and sanitary sewer pipes with larger pipes that will prevent the Cameron Street sewer main from getting overwhelmed. Future work includes creating detention ponds, additional piping, gas line work, and repaving. Winchester Capital Improvement/Infrastructure Division Manager Drew Brady said in late June that work could start as soon as July 8, 2019, and that lane closures will affect traffic.

Meanwhile, Front Royal’s Public Works Department is warning of work that may affect its residents. Front Royal is planning town-wide thermoplastic applications that start, July 8, 2019. A contractor, Clatterbuck Pavement Markings, will upgrade thermoplastic pavement markings in areas throughout town, and conduct yellow curb painting and line painting as well. Citizens are advised to be on the lookout for mobile work areas that will include equipment and wet paint. These will cause temporary traffic delays while pavement markings are installed and materials dry. Work is planned to run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day this week.
