Winchester Holds Local Women’s March

22 January 2019 Winchester News

Winchester joined cities across the globe this past weekend with a local Women’s March of its own.

The Saturday (1/19/2019) march was organized by Young Democrat Ainsley Rucker, who worked with support from the Winchester – Frederick County Democratic Committee. Around 200 people showed up in all to march on the walking mall from 12:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., and the crowd listened to speeches from leaders including several Young Democrats, Virginia Senate candidate Ronnie Ross, and Delegate Wendy Gooditis. Focal issues of the march included reproductive choice, ERA ratification, equal pay, and the government shutdown.  Winchester – Frederick County Democratic Committee secretary Kate Simpson said Monday (1/21/2019) that it was a positive environment, and that she was happy to see the leadership of Winchester’s Young Democrats that was on display.
