Winchester parks summer camp program returns

30 May 2020 Covid19 Winchester News

Winchester Parks and Recreation announced the continuation of their all-day summer child care program. The program starts June 8 and runs Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. No end date has been established at this time. Due to COVID-19, the camp’s capacity has been reduced to allow for proper physical distancing. As such, spaces are limited. Registration will be done on a first-come, first-served basis, though there will be a wait list created if necessary in preparation for Phase II or III of Virginia’s reopening. Registration will be carried out over the phone on select hours June 1 through June 3, with priority given to current HIVE and HIVE Club Members, followed by city residents. The times and dates are as follows:

  • Monday, June 1, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for current HIVE and HIVE Club Members
  • Tuesday, June 2, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for City residents
  • Wednesday, June 3, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for non-City residents

To register, call 540-662-4946 at the appropriate time listed above and ask for child care staff. Prices start at $80 a week for City residents. Sibling discounts are available.

Notably, the camp’s programming will be different from previous years. There will be various activities for the children but all activities may change depending on Virginia’s recovery plan.
