Winchester Regional Airport Authority Accepts Two Grants

The Winchester Regional Airport Authority has accepted grant offers from the Federal Aviation Administration and Virginia Department of Aviation totaling $206,550.00 and $17,680.00, respectively. The new funds will be used for design, bidding, and construction costs for the demolition of four structures on Bufflick Road. The properties were acquired with grant assistance between 2013 and 2018 to facilitate the relocation of a taxiway to meet FAA design criteria for aircraft with wingspans between 79-118 feet.
In a published statement by the Executive Director of the Airport Nick Sabo said, “We appreciate the support from our federal, state, and local partners to advance this key project, which helps the airport continue to meet the aviation needs of the region.”
