Winchester Regional Airport prepares for Girls in Aviation Day

The Winchester Regional Airport is hosting Girls in Aviation Day this Saturday, September 23rd, from 9 am to noon.

Local girls from 8-18 are invited to participate in activities to learn about aviation and inspire them to consider a career in the industry.

The event features aircraft displays, drone presentations, flight simulators and more.

This is the second year the event has been held in Winchester and despite doubling capacity, all tickets were claimed within 24 hours.

Event Organizer and Director of Development for STEM Flights Carley Walker said, “The community interest in aviation is evident by how many- and how quickly- people registered. We see a significant demand for aviation programming in our region and we are ready to create more exciting opportunities to satisfy that need.”

This community interest is significant to an industry which is suffering from an ongoing pilot shortage.
