Douglas School Renovation Project Takes Step Forward
The Winchester School Board voted Monday (2/25/2019) to issue a Request for Proposals for the renovation of the division’s historic Douglas School.
The Board had originally issued an RFP in January of 2019, and pre-proposal meetings on the project were held that month as well. However, because attendance was light at those meetings and in the end no proposals were submitted, the Board has switched its design method for the project with hopes of better success. They estimate that architectural fees for the Douglas School project will cost approximately $700,000, $500,000 of which will be funded through the city. The overall project will cost around $8,000,000, and the Board hopes to have construction begin by September of 2020.
