Winchester to purchase South End Fire Station

According to a Winchester Council Action Memo the City is going through the real property acquisition process to purchase the deteriorating South End Fire Station.

The properties 17 W. Monmouth Street, 612 through 620 S. Baddock Street and 5 West Germain Street are owned by the South End Fire Company.

A memorandum of understanding outlines an agreement where the city will pay South End Fire Company $20,000 per year for 10 years to assist with volunteer recruitment and retention along with firefighter gear and equipment.

The Council took the action to help facilitate long term sustainable long term fire and rescue service.
