ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Shenandoah University women’s indoor track & field team had another solid performance Thursday at the Sweetheart Invitational hosted by the Naval Academy.

Sophomore Shamyra Wilkerson posted a seventh place showing in the 60 meter dash – she was fourth versus DIII competition with an 8.11.

Alexandria Caljean and Aislynn Smith were 15th and 16th (2nd and 3rd in DIII) in the one mile with 5:34.58 and 5:34.88, respectively.

In the sprint medley relay, Caljean, Wilkerson, Batres Maku and Shelby Shrader were 10th at 4:41.96. The quartet was fourth among the DIII squads.

Freshman Delia Mack highlighted her sixth place showing in the pentathlon by winning the 800 meter portion of the event. Mack had a 2:38.39 to score 591 of her 2229 points.

Mack scored 362 in the 60 meter hurdles, 610 in the high jump, 258 in the shot put and 408 in the long jump before completing her night in the 800.

“This is always a fun meet for us,” head coach Andy Marrocco said. “The mile run was a great event – I think we had six personal bests in our seven competitors.

“Now we are looking forward to this weekend at Roanoke.”

Shenandoah finished fourth in the team competition with three points. Host Navy won it with 20 points with Hood second and Stevenson third. SU was two points back of the Mustangs.

The men and women are back in action on Saturday at the Finn Pincus Invitational hosted by Roanoke College.
