Shenandoah (6-20) earned that spot with an 82-73 upset of sixth-seeded Virginia Wesleyan Tuesday evening.

SU will be making its first appearance in Salem since dropping a heartbreaking, 53-52, decision to top-seeded Eastern Mennonite in the 2014 tournament.

Current seniors Olivia Callan and Erin French both played in that contest as freshmen with Callan playing 34 minutes and French scoring six points in 29 minutes off the bench.

The Hornets hope to advance to their first-ever semi-final, where they would face the winner of the No. 2 Guilford versus No. 7 Washington and Lee game.

To earn that spot, SU will need to snap a six-game losing streak to the No. 3 Wasps. E&H is 18-7 on the season with two of those wins coming at the expense of the Hornets. The Wasps were 103-43 winners in Emory on December 3 and 64-40 victors in Winchester on February 4.

Sophomore Taylor Blevins leads E&H in scoring at 13.4 points per game with senior Megan Jacoby hitting for 10.4 ppg.

E&H averages 71.1 points per game and has cracked the 90-point barrier on five occasions.

Junior Kirstyn Arcata paces SU in scoring at 10.1 ppg. In the first round victory over VWC, Arcata had a team-high 28 points and was 7 of 10 from behind the arc. The seven 3-pointers ties the school record and her 70 percent shooting from outside is a new school record.

For those fans unable to travel to Salem for the game, live stats and video are available.
