Women’s Lax Picked Fifth

FOREST, Va. – The Shenandoah University women’s lacrosse team is the pre-season No. 5 selection of the ODAC coaches in poll results released Thursday morning by the league office.

The Hornets, who just missed qualifying for the ODAC Tournament last spring, have 45 points in the poll to land securely in the No. 5 position. SU is six points in front of No. 6 Bridgewater and 15 back of No. 4 Lynchburg.

Defending champion Washington and Lee has a perfect 81 points on nine first place votes to earn the No. 1 spot. W&L is nine in front of Randolph-Macon, which was second with 72 points. The Generals gave R-MC their first place vote.

Voting was done on a 9-1 basis and coaches were unable to vote for their own teams in the poll.

Shenandoah opens its season on February 22 in a 3:30 non-league game versus Mary Washington.
