Woodstock Tower Road Reopens in Shenandoah
November 26, 2019
WOODSTOCK – The Virginia Department of Transportation announced that Woodstock Tower Rd. is once again fully open.
A portion of the Massanutten Mountain path was closed off due to slope failure in March. Contractors made their way up the road in October to repair the area affected by the slope failure. Their process involved using a foam-grout product, shotcrete and over 100 soil nails. The project involved 90 feet of mountain slope and about 20 feet of actual road surface.
The road itself is a gravel road surface that travels through the George Washington Forest and crosses Massanutten Mountain.
