WPD arrest a former Police Officer

Winchester Police Department (WPD) announced that Investigators have arrested former police officer Joseph Edward Adams.

The 61 year old Adams is charged with three felony counts of indecent liberties by a custodian.

He has been accused of inappropriate sexual contact with a teenage boy from Winchester.

Adams is being held without bond at the Northwest Regional Adult Detention Center.

The investigation began earlier in the month of June with authorities finding that the victim had spent time under Adams’ care over the past year.

Adams was in law enforcement for 29 years starting in September of 1986 until January of 1990 with the WPD.

Adams would go on to work in the Berryville Police Department until 2015.
