WPD make a major drug arrest

A news release from the Winchester Police Department (WPD) announced a major narcotics arrest on April 29.

California resident Obamdidamu Newton was arrested in a Winchester motel room on Valley Avenue.

The proactive enforcement officers of the WPD led to a search of Newton’s room which netted approximately $30,000 in narcotics and a firearm.

A backpack in the 35 year old Newton’s room was found to contain, all approximate amounts.

Eight ounces of Methamphetamine, 27 grams of Crack Cocaine, a quarter pound of Marijuana, 2.5 ounces of Psychedelic Mushrooms and 75 Ecstasy pills.

Authorities also confiscated almost $5500 in currency and a stolen 9 millimeter handgun from Newton’s room.

Newton faces charges of possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony and possession of a stolen firearm.

Newton also faces times 5 possession charges with the intent to distribute narcotics.
