WPD relaunch fight the fraud campaign

Winchester Police Department (WPD) is relaunching it’s fight the fraud inferno campaign that was Highly successful in 2018.

Due to COVID-19 in 2020 losses totaling more than $400,000 have been reported prompting the relaunch.

WPD has noticed an increase in the number of gift cards being sold which is often a means of paying scammers.

The campaign is looking for community leaders and retailers to help with informing the public.

“Gift cards are for gifts only” is the theme of the campaign.
