State Police have arrested aWest Virginia man and charged him with a Clarke County murder that took place earlier this week.
50-year-old Dale Lee Wright of Charles Town was arrested for the 1st degree murder of 72-year-old Loudoun County resident Jeffrey B. Evans. The two had met at 11:15 a.m. Sunday (3/17/2019) in a gravel lot off of Castleman Road for a business transaction they had prearranged. It was over the course of that meeting that an altercation ensued, leading Wright to shoot Evans just minutes after he had arrived. Evans was able to drive his pickup truck away from the lot, but crashed at the intersection of Castleman Road and Route 7, where he succumbed to his injuries. Multiple eyewitnesses reported seeing Wright run to the truck before fleeing the scene. The Virginia State Police investigation into this incident is ongoing.
