Yesterday’s 2/1 incident at Bridgewater College

ABC news reports that two Officers died from their injuries at Bridgewater College yesterday.

Authorities were notified of an unauthorized person on the Bridgewater College Campus yesterday.

Campus police officer John Painter and Safety Officer J.J. Jefferson responded and were shot and killed by that person.

The school was placed under shelter in place orders with the suspect arrested shortly after.

Authorities have indentified the assailant as 27 year old Alexander Wyatt Campbell of Ashland Virginia.

No motive for his actions has been determined as the investigation continues.

Campbell faces a number of charges and is held without bond at Rockingham County jail.

Sympathies, condolences, thoughts and prayers have been posted by agencies across the region for the families of the officers as well as for Bridgewater College.

President Biden called the incident sickening adding that violence against law enforcement must end.

Governor Youngkin has order both state and national flags at half staff in honor of Officer John Painter and J. J. Jefferson.
